Musical excerpts of Gustav Holst’s “Jupiter,” “Saturn,” “Uranus,” and “Neptune” circle around the Voyager II probe, which visited each of these planets on its way to interstellar space.

Voyager II was launched in 1976 along with a “Golden Record,” a disk containing sounds and images of life and culture on Earth, in case the probe is one day retrieved by another civilization.

The burst of stars in the bottom right of this papercutting is taken from a diagram etched on the Golden Record. It is a map of our Solar System’s position, relative to 9 known stars.
